The Style File - Stay Cool, look hot
The Men.s Guide to Staying Cool and Looking Hot this Summer
It.s
summer, and for men in the business world that means one thing: cotton
suits (without socks, of course) in shades of navy, beige, and
grey . which is currently continuing its run as the .it. colour
after dethroning black this winter. It also means that its time to hang
up that black wool suit until at least September - unless you want to
look like a red-faced blowhard that had one too many double scotches
at lunch. No, summer is a time where the breathability of your fabrics
is almost as important . and, often, directly related to - the breathability
of your body. So make a wise health decision and invest in a quality
cotton suit. Or get a seersucker with light grey or blue stripes,
another huge trend for the suited man this summer. Make sure you accentuate
this look with pointy toe shoes, which were touching the floors
of all the European catwalks this year. In fact, nothing say .A Few
Dollars More. than some pointy toe shoes, so use them to intimidate
potential clients as well, cowboy-style.
In
fact, if you have a cowboy-style body, then this season just may be
your perfect fit. On the casual side of things, men.s muscles seem
to be the top fashion accessory of the moment, with designers like Dolce
and Gabbanna and Versace offering a wide variety of T-shirts and
polos cut at the bicep, graphically-brilliant tank-tops and boxer-style
swim trunks that will make you renew your gym membership and curse
Krispy Kreme forever. Also, be sure to rock some big black plastic
wrap-around shades if you don.t want to be left out in the cold.
For casual eveningwear, opt for a blazer with detailing, a cotton
polo, and tapered cotton pants for a look that I like to call DnG
prep.
Finally,
colour is huge this season for both men and women, so don.t be afraid
to pick up that lavender tie or baby blue button-down. When purchasing
casual wear, remember that shades of blue, yellow, purple, and turqoise
are all huge this season. Also, earn your fashion stripes by rocking
either vertical or horizontal stripes this summer, which was
a huge trend on the catwalk earlier this year.
Until
next time, keep on stylin. people.
